Carried away

Very exciting Ice Hockey final which Canada won in overtime which was relentless end to end stuff.

A great 'games' for Canada but some seem to be getting carried away with talk of winning the most Golds ever, for example.

As with the Summer (or proper) Olympics there are new events, so there are more opportunities than previously.

Snowboarding is relatively new and the medal events were increased from 4 to 6 a couple of 'games' ago and Women's Ice Hockey has only been included since 98.

Those two sports, alone, gave Canada 3 more golds than would have been the case prior to 94. I imagine other sports have more medals involved too. I wouldn't be surprised if there are more skating medals than earlier years too.

But still an excellent performance, especially when all the talk beforehand was of never having won Gold in Canada before putting so much pressure on the competitors.

And today's heavy snowfall will, unfortunately, have brought people back to reality. Although I'm sure many will, understandably, be beyond giving a damn.
