I love The Ryder Cup. It's just the perfect sport what with there being so much team work involved.
Even losing your particular match can contribute.
It was close. The USA kept chipping away at Europe's lead and then, down to the last match, it was easy to see our guy crumbling with the pressure and losing his lead and, thus, the match.
But he increased his lead, consolidated and that was it. All over. Magic.
What's funny is that generally, Americans find it difficult to grasp the concept of a contest being drawn. Or tied. Like kissing your sister, they say.
The value of individual matches being drawn really stands out in this competition and a last drawn match would have been celebrated. That would have made the overall contest a draw too.
As holders, though, the Americans would have retained the trophy. And that's what counts.
But Europe held on. To win.
Magic.
