Confused by chocolate

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this; it's that confusing.

In the UK we had Marathons, Milky Ways and Mars Bars. Marathons became Snickers. Dunno why. To fall in line with America?

The US Mars Bar is supposedly the same as the Brit Milky Way, or so I have read, but the Canadian Mars Bar is the same - except peanut free. Not that I've noticed the difference.

But I've had something in Canada that was a Brit Milky Way with a different name again.

Snickers appears to have been renamed as Believe in Canada but today I saw it repackaged as Snickers again.

I've just read that back in 2006 the Brit Mars Bar was renamed Believe for that year's World Cup and it now appears the Believe name was chosen in Canada, similarly for the Olympics.

So we have an American Mars that is equal to the Brit Milky Way while Canada has a different bar equal to the Brit Milky Way. Then the Brit Mars became Believe followed by the Canadian Snickers becoming Believe and all this after the Brit Marathon became Snickers.

Just as well there's no Topic over here.
