Dear Anonymous of London

I never lived in London, just Bristol. I went lots of times of course.
Moncton is a small town but for its size there's a lot here; plenty of cinemas, couple of theatres, wine fair, concert venues, varied restaurants etc. It has everything needed and more.

The big advantage of the place is that housing is very cheap. It means you can have a decent standard of living on a modest income. That's a clue as to my main reasons for choosing NB and then Moncton and my reasons don't even come close to why other people made their decisions.

It's worth looking at the expats forum if you haven't already been there. We seem to be in a minority of one so our outlook and expectations may be quite different to yours.

Winter is long - but that's virtually everywhere in Canada - and there's loads of snow. But it's brilliantly dealt with. Everything keeps moving. Roads are plowed promptly and excess snow is even removed and dumped out of town.

You really should check out the expats site and the other forum I mentioned.

  1. hello sir. i have been to both forums and have read thousands of threads but as you are living there it makes great sense to me if you share your experience.

first i would like to thank you for your comments yesterday very pleasing to read that.just to give you an idea of my background. i am mechanical engineer 30yrs old. i have couple of questions. like.. frech is must? winter? cost of living? life in general? housing cost? cost for renting?job prospect? crime rate?schooling? healthcare?

i am scared of yob culture in engalnd and over populated crowd in britain. and also paying thousands for small cramped living just for the sack of city called london drives me mad. this are the reasons to move away from uk and coming to canada. the biggest put off is cold weather but your yesterdays comment has increased my confidence. hope you will find time to reflect your thoughts!! have a great day.

list is long and boring.but i hope you will reply my questions. i appreciate your time and effort.

  2. Hi
I am more than happy to help. I suggested the Moncton forum not as an alternative to asking me but as something better than here. We can cover things better there AND we'll have use of the PM features for those things best kept off a public forum.

Someone else on the forum has been considering a similar move too.

    I started a thread there. http://www.monctonforums.com/index.php?topic=1193.new#new

Even if you don't post on the forum you could just sign up and PM me (BristolUK).

    I will respond. :)
