Dread

I'm not looking forward to tonight. Yet another storm. Snow blizzard this time. As if we've not had enough floods and wind damage here over the last three weeks.

We've had some damage to the roof at the duplex. Insurance should cover it but you never know. And if the storm causes more damage? And delays repairs? More internal damage?

The snow is said to be around 15 inches and the snow I actually have to clear is invariably more than the official measurement. But it's gonna be blowing snow as well and that usually means it blows off the street onto the steps and drive, also making it deeper.

I only hope I can clear some of it when I get up and I can prevent it piling up too much. It did the trick last winter when a biggie was expected and I did it six times in a day to keep it manageable.

SS is at a friend's house. I suggested he bring his friend back for an overnighter so he could help clear some!!

Strange Christmas

It's going to be a strange Christmas. My wife's dad is dying and she's gone to be with him. SD has gone too, leaving me and SS at home. How long is unknown but it'll be at least two weeks.

We expect her mum to come here when it's all done and we'll have xmas then.

We're having a sort of xmas dinner; kind of a compromise.

I've been catching up on some movies.

Where's the snow?

This time last year we had snow on the ground that had been there 3 or 4 weeks. Right now we have a little more than a dusting and I'm relying on overnight rain and more rain tomorrow to get rid of it.

Hopefully this winter will seem less long than the last one as a result.
